About
Hey, I'm Evan, a Computer Science student based in New York, NY, currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts at New York University, expecting to graduate in December 2026. I'm deeply passionate about bringing ideas to life at the crossroads of design, engineering, and planning. I enjoy transforming creative concepts into beautiful, intuitive user experiences.
What drives me most is being able to contribute and deliver a product from start to finish whether that's a web application or some other project. I thrive on collaborating and communicating with my colleagues to find unique solutions to complex challenges and build the best experience for users. I'm always eager to learn new technologies, expand my skillset, and adapt to whatever the next project brings.
Previously, I was a Software Engineering Intern at Union Pacific and an Agile Delivery Co-op at 84.51°. At Union Pacific, I worked on transforming a new mockup of an existing application into a full-stack application using Angular and TypeScript. This has been an invaluable opportunity to learn how usability, scalability, and performance come together in large-enterprise application development. At 84.51°, I learned everything from tooling to processes to metrics, all dedicated to helping a team grow its ways of working and Agile maturity. I worked heavily with Scrum and Kanban teams and facilitated Scrum Ceremonies. Ultimately, this experience has taught me how communication, collaboration, and transparency takes a team from 0 to 100.
Most recently, I was a Software Engineering Intern at American Express for Summer 2026. I worked backend on the AI Marketing Optimization team: encrypted vendor API integration with FastAPI and PostgreSQL, plus telemetry and OpenSearch dashboards across two production services. My favorite part was using my own dashboards to trace a wave of AI-tagging failures to their root cause downstream.
Outside of the coding world, I'm a huge rollercoaster enthusiast—I've visited Six Flags Great Adventure, Universal Studios Orlando, Walt Disney World, and Kings Island. My top rides are Velocicoaster at Islsnds of Adventure and Stardust Racers at Epic Universe. I'm also an avid gamer, currently playing Valorant, CS2, and Palworld, talk to me about your favorite games. I also enjoy watching movies, and playing volleyball and badminton.
If any of what I said resonates with you, I'd love to connect! Please feel free out to me on LinkedIn!
Experience
June 2026 - August 2026
Software Engineering Intern • American Express
Built a FastAPI endpoint to receive encrypted creative-review results from a third-party vendor, implementing AES-256-GCM decryption and fail-safe key handling that gates PostgreSQL updates behind successful validation. Designed a PostgreSQL metadata model, SQLAlchemy repository, and Liquibase migrations with rollback support for generated-file tracking, wiring single- and multi-PDF generation to Google Cloud Storage upload and retrieval. Instrumented two production Python services with structured telemetry - retry outcomes, downstream response times, and business-readable failure reasons—attaching retry counts and outcomes to raised exceptions so dashboards reported actual retry behavior instead of estimates derived from HTTP status codes. Built OpenSearch dashboards covering success rates, failure reasons, retry effectiveness, and per-asset processing status; used them during integration testing to trace a concentration of AI-tagging failures to SVG assets and isolate the root cause to a downstream processing service. Expanded Pytest coverage across success and failure paths, including malformed payloads, decryption failures, missing records, and upload errors, updating existing mocks to validate the new observability behavior.
Jan 2026 - May 2026
Agile Delivery Co-op • 84.51°
Supported Scrum and Kanban engineering and data science teams by facilitating Agile ceremonies, documenting team practices, and driving continuous improvement to strengthen collaboration and delivery consistency. Partnered with the Product Manager and technical leads to refine and prioritize backlogs in Jira, aligning sprint goals with business objectives and ensuring work was clearly defined and actionable. Provided hands-on Agile coaching, Jira administration, and performance metric analysis through Jira Analytics to enhance team throughput, improve workflow visibility, and foster data-driven decision-making. Maintained and iterated on Confluence documentation to capture best practices, support onboarding and cross-team knowledge sharing, and promote standardized, repeatable ways of working across the organization.

Software Engineer Intern • Union Pacific
Migrated a legacy application to a modern Angular/TypeScript platform, creating a fully mobile-responsive experience that enhanced usability for field managers operating across diverse locations. Collaborated with UX designers and developers in agile sprints to convert detailed Figma mockups into user-centered frontend components, driving a consistent and engaging interface design. Improved accessibility and performance for a distributed workforce, supporting 8,385 unique users and enabling 730,827 successful accesses within just five months of deployment. Integrated new frontend features with backend APIs and employed Git for effective branch management, thriving in a fast-paced Agile development environment with regular code reviews.

IT Support Technician • New York University
Responded to and troubleshot tickets submitted by the administration regarding hardware and software issues ensuring minimal downtime and timely support. Successfully deployed and configured a wide range of technology, including computers, printers, and audio/visual equipment, providing IT support to enhance campus operations and user satisfaction. Efficiently managed IT assets and peripherals across campus using the Asset Management System, ensuring full inventory control, immediate updates to supply, details, and locations of assets.
Projects
Job Rocket - Application Tracker
A full-stack web application meant to help job seekers track and manage their job applications with secure user authentication, built using Next.js, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL to provide a minimalistic dashboard for monitoring applications. This project includes OAuth integration, responsive design, and real-time search functionality.

Budget Boy
A personal finance web app built with Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB and TailwindCSS. It features secure user authentication with Passport.js, and dynamic tools for budget management, expense categorization, and subscription tracking — all supported by a comprehensive database structure for personalized expense tracking.
